On June 3, 2008, Jan Whitaker was awarded the
Non Commissioned Officers Association National Defense Foundation American
Patriot Award in the Cannon House Office Building in Washington, D.C. This
“Award recognizes sustained achievement in the care and tendering of men
and women who serve, or have served, in the Uniformed Services of the
United States of America and their survivors.
Richard C. Schneider, Executive Director
for Government Affairs, Non Commissioned Officers Association looks on as
H. Gene Overstreet, President of the Non Commissioned Officers Association
presented the award for “efforts and motivation (that) have allowed
America’s Wounded Warriors and countless other disabled citizens to
overcome personal physical limitations to participate in recreational and
competitive water sports activities. With profound appreciation and
respect.”
