Canoe Specifications & Rules Used for All USCA Events -
Effective 2003

For all C2 National
Championship races, both USCA specifications for Competition Cruisers and
3x27 Racing Canoes will qualify. (modified 2004
to allow 3x27 in all
classes adult and youth)
Competition Cruiser, C1 and C2 – maximum length of 18'
6", minimum width shall be 14-3/8 % of the length (0.1438) at the
4" water line measured within 12" fore and aft of the center of
the canoe. Bow height
shall be 15-1/2" and the minimum depth for the rest of the canoe shall
be 11-1/2". Canoes can be
made of any material, may have person-powered bailer, pump or siphon.
No rudders. Must be able
to float a 25-pound steel weight with the canoe submerged.

Adult/Youth, Adult/Junior and all youth classes, including Junior
must use exclusively this canoe.
Additional USCA C1 and C2 Specifications
C1, in addition to the
maximum 36 inches decking allowance at bow and stern, an additional maximum
of 18 inches combined thwart plus lunch counter depth (measured along the
keel) is allowed. A maximum radius of 3 inches is allowed to tie in any
thwart/lunch counter to the gunwales.
C2, identical to C1, but
increase the maximum combined allowable thwart/lunch counter from 18 inches
to 29 inches to accommodate an additional thwart/lunch counter (the above 3
inch tie-in radius and 18 and 29 inch thwart and lunch counter
specifications to be added to the USCA competition rules.)
Allow decking on all C2 canoes, only at Nationals.
C2 Standard – All rules
for the Competition Cruiser except the minimum depth amidships shall be
12". Minimum bow and stern height shall be 16-1/2 ". Minimum width at 4: water line shall be 15% of the length.
Must weigh a minimum of 50 pounds. Weight may be added and be permanently
secured. Aluminum canoes with competition cruiser specifications and weight
of 50 pounds may run in this class as long as they were built before January
1, 1990.
Note: All USCA boats and
3x27s may have self-bailers
C2 3x27 Racing Canoe Specifications (for use in all C2
adult-only classes) — maximum length 18' 6". Minimum heights – 15" bow, 10" center, 10"
stern. The minimum height
gunwale line shall be a continuous smooth arch curve.
Minimum width 33" on top of gunwale line, 27" wide at
3" water line or 3" of draft.
USCA National Race Sponsor to continue to hold non championship ICF
classes including canoe classes.
